Is it now Anushk’s turn to go to Bollywood?

It’s not yet confirmed but sources close to actress Anushka say that she is all set to make her acting debut in Bollywood, the world of Hindi films. The towering Anushka, whose height is matched hardly by one or two heroes in Kollywood, is said to be over the moon because of the fact that her latest Tamil film ‘Vaanam’ has been doing very well at the box-office.

Reports say that director Krish, who has successfully re-made his Telugu hit ‘Vedam’ into ‘Vaanam’ and has managed to reach out to Tamil audience, has been approached by a popular Bollywood producer to direct the film in Hindi too. Accordingly, Krish has already started making some deft and needy changes in the screenplay to suit the Hindi audience’s taste.

Before deciding on the lead actors to star in the Hindi version of ‘Vaanam’, Krish is said to be sure of one thing: he would want Anushka to repeat the role she played in ‘Vaanam’ for the Hindi version too. Incidentally, Anushka played the same character in the Telugu version ‘Vedam’ and if her Hindi debut is confirmed, it would be the third time she would be essaying the role of a sex-worker.

Industry watchers, however, are skeptical whether Anushka would be willing to make her debut in Bollywood in an off-beat role, that too of a ‘sex-worker’ which might hamper her dreams, if any, of making it big in Hindi films. Readers are reminded here that not so long ago, Anushka turned down the offer to play the female lead opposite top star Ajay Devgn in the Hindi remake of Tamil super-hit film Singam.
